About
About Paraiba Ethiopia
An independent specialist resource on Ethiopian copper-bearing tourmaline — built to explain terminology, gemology and market considerations without overstating what is known.
Why this site exists
Tourmaline from Ethiopia showing blue, green and blue-green colors has entered the market, and buyers increasingly encounter the term “Ethiopian Paraíba.” Whether a particular stone qualifies depends on documented chemistry and on the nomenclature policy of the issuing laboratory. This site gathers that context in one place and links to the published research behind it.
Publisher, team and author credentials are pending. They will be listed here once confirmed — we do not publish invented biographies.
Editorial policy
Color alone is never treated as identification
No page describes a stone as Paraíba from appearance. Copper-bearing status requires chemical analysis, and trade nomenclature is a laboratory decision.
Every factual claim is sourced or flagged
Statements about chemistry, spectroscopy, history, localities or prices cite a published reference. Where a reference is not yet confirmed, the text is marked as pending verification.
Demonstration data is labelled
Charts and tables that illustrate a method — rather than report measurements — carry a visible “Demonstration data” badge.
Placeholders stay visible
Gallery records, photographs and author details that are not yet documented are labelled as placeholders rather than filled with invented detail.
No proprietary procedures
Methods are described at the level found in published gemological literature. We do not reproduce laboratory-internal criteria.
Corrections are welcome

Commercial disclosure
The site may respond to inquiries about available stones. Educational pages are written independently of any stone offered, and no page will describe a stone for sale more favourably than its documentation supports. Questions? Contact us.
